was watching some video off facebook talking about the stupid things in Singapore and one of the lines said - If you're not the best then you're one of the rest. Which i find its particularly true in the local society, which i feel deludes people. Especially parents. They want their kids to be the best. Best at what? It's always the superficial things like academics, sports, piano class, and things like that. Why so typical? Why cant you ask your kids to be good at something else like say training animals or acting or singing. Yes no doubt its the path less taken but sometimes the path less taken is the path that leads you to success isnt it. Doesn mean your kid fails the academic system means he fails in life. You shouldn't condemn your kid just because he's academically stupid. I think parents nowadays are delusional. They think by sending their kids to a variety of classes would give them enough exposure but i think its still not enough. Eventually every one parent would want their kids to excel in school.
Well when i grow up and be a parent myself, i think grades would be one of the least concerns. In fact, if i had the time, i would prefer to home tutor my kid myself. School teaches you a hundred and one things and you dont even need to use 99 of them in life. Its all about the soft skills man. Tell me which school teaches you soft skills. Even SJI over the years has succumbed to the race to be the top school. So much so that i think lesser emphasis has been placed on the character development. Ohwell. Hope once they reach the top they would return to their good ol ways.
Anyway, some updates over the past week. Lets see. There're so many things i dont even recall. Monday and Wed had training as usual. Dong came on tues. Thursday was jamming. Friday went back to church for another round of jamming. Went to gym yesterday as well. First week of school was hectic i would say. Lots of activities going on, meet new people, lots of events lining up, trying to catch up with my exercises, my guitar routine, and also to squeeze out time for girlfriend who's ever so patient. Appreciate it. Assignments have started already so it looks like a super busy term. Anyway a couple of people got me offended while saying things like why i dont have time for this and that, why i cant go here and there. I just reply them that they're not in my shoes so they wouldnt know. And most of them still don't understand and i totally cant be bothered anyhow. The way i see it, we got only one life. As for afterlife, i don't really dig it at the moment so i'm concentrating on my current life. I want it to be exciting. I dont wanna regret when i'm 30 with a family and a kid. So i'm gonna enjoy my youth, all that energy, time, friends etc. Heaven can wait.
